John Kuempel, Jr., PE
Vice President, Design-Build Group
John is the Vice President of the Design-Build Group with primary responsibility over engineering concepts for design-build contracting. He manages the engineering and operations on all design-build projects, along with the engineering, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and automation controls for single-source projects. John also provides renovation solutions on existing facilities’ air handling systems. His knowledge of fan and duct systems has allowed many customers to greatly reduce utility costs.
John earned his bachelor’s in mechanical engineering from Cornell University and has completed additional training from ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Engineers), Carrier, Trane, Honeywell, NEBB (National Environmental Balancing Bureau), State of Ohio Fire Protection Training Certification, and Cincinnati Technical College Mechanical Refrigeration. He is a Licensed Professional Engineer in Ohio and Kentucky and holds the NEBB Air and Hydraulic Supervisor certification.
John is very active in national ASHRAE as a voting member of TC 9.1 “Large Building Air Conditioning Systems.” He is also an active member of TC 9.1’s sub-committee “Central Energy Plants.” He has worked on several publications, including the Guideline Committee GPC-16P “Specifying Outdoor, Return and Relief Dampers for VAV Systems.” John also is a member of ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers), AEE (Association of Energy Engineers) and NEBB (President), and SMACNA (Sheet Metal & Air Conditioning Contractors' National Association) (Chairman of Health & Welfare Trust).
Other professional affiliations include ACI (Allied Construction Industries), MCA (Mechanical Contractors of America), GCPC (Greater Cincinnati Plumbing Contractors Association), and CMPA (Cincinnati Master Plumbers Association) PHCC (Plumbing-Heating-Cooling-Contractors of Ohio).
